Introduction
Amity University Online has successfully concluded the first edition of the Amity Online National Scholarship Aptitude Test (AONSAT) 2026, positioning it as India’s first and largest online scholarship admission test designed specifically for online degree programs. The initiative attracted participation from thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate aspirants across the country, reflecting the growing demand for flexible and technology-enabled higher education in India.

Nationwide Participation Reflects Growth of Online Education
AONSAT 2026 witnessed registrations from more than 495 cities across India, including metropolitan regions, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and remote locations. Students from regions ranging from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Tripura, and from Ludhiana to Kochi participated in the scholarship admission test.
The large-scale response highlights the increasing acceptance of online degree programs among Indian learners who are seeking accessible, affordable, and career-oriented higher education opportunities without geographical limitations.
Merit-Based Scholarships Awarded to Top Performers
The inaugural edition of AONSAT rewarded 12 outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate learners with merit-based scholarships. The winners represented diverse educational, cultural, and regional backgrounds, reinforcing the inclusive nature of digitally enabled higher education platforms.
Among the top achievers, postgraduate topper Abhishek Kushwaha received a 100% scholarship. He stated that AONSAT created a valuable opportunity for learners aiming to pursue quality higher education from a reputed institution while strengthening their confidence and career aspirations.
Raushan Kumar, an undergraduate topper and 100% scholarship recipient, highlighted that initiatives like AONSAT help talented students gain access to world-class education opportunities that may otherwise seem financially difficult.
Leadership Vision for India’s Digital Education Future
Speaking about the initiative, Ajit Chauhan emphasized that India’s youth are increasingly looking for flexible and globally relevant education models. He stated that quality education should not be restricted by financial or geographical barriers and that scholarship-driven initiatives like AONSAT help build a stronger knowledge economy.
The initiative also aligns with the goals of India’s National Education Policy 2020, which aims to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education from 28% to 50% by 2035.
Importance of Scalable Online Learning Models
India is expected to require nearly 86 million higher education enrolments by 2035 to meet national educational goals. Scalable digital learning systems and scholarship-led educational initiatives are therefore becoming increasingly important in expanding access to quality education.
AONSAT demonstrates how online universities can contribute to educational accessibility by combining technology-enabled learning platforms with merit-based financial support systems.
Second Edition of AONSAT Announced Soon
Following the strong nationwide response to the inaugural edition, Amity University Online has announced that the second edition of AONSAT will be launched soon. The university aims to further strengthen its mission of making higher education more inclusive, affordable, and accessible to learners across India.
As India continues progressing toward a digitally connected knowledge economy, initiatives like AONSAT are expected to play an important role in increasing awareness of online education, improving educational participation, and enabling large-scale social mobility through accessible learning opportunities.
